The German-American Cultural Center wanted a new website to help their users find important information in a more updated and easier manner. The site had two main goals, one helping the general public learn more about the German immigrant heritage and accomplishments found in Gretna, and the second to help GACC members to fully access event and newsletter information.
Now members have a feature rich calendar that outlines upcoming events for both the GACC and other local groups. With the calendar users can share the event listings and send themselves reminders to their ical and google calendars making it easier for them to remember upcoming events.
The website also now has a dynamic newsletter archive which allows users to search for, read, and download GACC newsletters from the last two years. Users can also subscribe from the website to get GACC news sent to them.
The website is also now a great help to anyone looking for family heritage information for German families from Gretna. Users can look up what German family names have been research by the GACC and request help or information on finding out more on the genealogy of their family history.
An online store has also been added to the website to help with streamlining the donation and membership process. Now users can apply or renew memberships, donate, or buy event tickets or fundraising items online.
